About Johnson Group

We Help Brands Slay Giants

Johnson Group is a full-service advertising and marketing agency that blends fresh ideas with proprietary direct response tools to build deeper brand connections and drive profitable conversions. We work across the full funnel — from brand positioning, research, and data science to video and photo content, creative strategy, and full-stack digital development.

Our clients are ambitious brands competing against larger, better-funded opponents. Our job is to help them win anyway.

The Role

We are looking for an articulate, strategically minded Account Director to lead a large, high-priority account in the home services category. This is a senior client-facing role that sits at the intersection of media strategy, campaign performance, and executive relationship management.

You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for the client, own the strategic narrative across a multi-market paid media program, and function as the connective tissue between our media, analytics, creative, and interactive teams. This is a leadership role for someone who can run a room, earn trust at the C-suite level, and make strong, data-informed recommendations under pressure. This is an account leadership role first, but requires real fluency in performance marketing.

The right person for this role thinks like a strategist, communicates like a partner, and runs their account like a business.

Responsibilities

Client Relationship & Communication

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for client marketing leadership
  • Lead weekly status calls covering campaign performance, active optimizations, and upcoming strategic priorities
  • Own all written client communication, ensuring performance updates, timelines, deliverables, and next steps are clearly documented and followed through
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships at the marketing director, VP, and C-suite level
  • Co-lead bi-annual performance reports presented to executive and private equity leadership

Media Strategy & Campaign Oversight

  • Develop a working command of the client’s paid media strategy across all channels and markets — you don’t execute buys, but you understand them
  • Translate campaign performance data into clear, actionable client recommendations with confidence and clarity
  • Collaborate with the media team on seasonal planning, budget pacing, and channel strategy across a complex multi-market footprint
  • Proactively identify and pitch testing opportunities — creative A/B tests, offer variations, and audience experiments — before the client asks
  • Navigate platform issues and barriers in partnership with the media team, and communicate solutions and tradeoffs to the client
  • Maintain accuracy and transparency in all client-facing performance communications — highlight wins, flag risks early, and clearly outline any cost-of-yes considerations

Internal Leadership & Account Health

  • Ensure all client deliverables and next steps are clearly defined and routed to the correct internal teams in partnership with project management
  • Brief creative teams clearly and completely — translating client goals into actionable, well-scoped creative direction
  • Serve as the account’s strategic center of gravity — holding context across teams so nothing falls through the cracks
  • Identify and escalate account risks before they become client problems
  • Contribute to a proactive, solutions-first account culture that reflects Johnson Group’s standard for client service

What Success Looks Like

In the first 90 days, the right person will have earned the client’s trust, built a working understanding of the seasonal campaign calendar and performance benchmarks, and established themselves as the strategic voice of the agency on the account.

Long-term, success in this role looks like a client who feels genuinely partnered with — not just serviced — and a team that runs efficiently because you’re clear, organized, and always a step ahead.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8+ years of paid media or integrated account management experience in performance-driven environments — fluent enough in paid media to dig into platform data alongside the media team, not execute in it
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-market, multi-channel campaigns with significant media budgets
  • Proven track record leading performance conversations with C-suite and executive stakeholders, including private equity or investor audiences
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills: you write clearly, you present confidently, and you know the difference between a client email and an internal Slack message
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, brands, and workstreams simultaneously without dropping detail
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior account staff
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Drive); Excel, Word, and PowerPoint a plus

Preferred

  • Experience in home services, home improvement, or other high-seasonality direct response categories
  • Familiarity with paid search, paid social (Meta), direct mail, and CTV/streaming as part of an integrated media mix
  • Experience working with analytics and data teams on performance dashboards and measurement frameworks
  • Comfort working in a fully remote or hybrid agency environment

What’s In It for You

  • Hybrid work environment (Chattanooga, TN) or remote flexibility
  • Competitive salary
  • Fun, collaborative team environment
  • Wellness stipend
  • Summer Fridays
  • 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and family
  • 401k with company match
  • PTO, sick days, and paid holidays
  • Paid maternity and paternity leave
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Company-wide events (lake day, retreats, and more)
