The Responsibilities:
- Translate UI/UX designs into engaging, responsive, accessible, and high-performance interfaces for websites and web applications.
- Build scalable, reusable, and maintainable code.
- Develop and customize WordPress plugins, themes, templates, components, and Gutenberg blocks.
- Provide ongoing maintenance, enhancements, and technical support for WordPress and Drupal websites.
- Implement website change requests through code, CMS configuration, or both.
- Optimize website speed, accessibility, and compatibility across browsers and devices.
- Manage development and deployment workflows using Pantheon.
- Implement technical and content-related SEO changes, including metadata, redirects, structured data, indexing controls, and SEO plugin configuration.
- Support integrations with REST APIs, third-party scripts, analytics, consent management tools, forms, and other website services.
- Collaborate with designers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver digital solutions that meet project requirements.
- Document implementations and troubleshooting steps to support ongoing maintenance and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP
- Hands-on experience developing WordPress themes and plugins.
- Proficiency with MySQL or similar relational database systems.
- Experience with Sass, CSS frameworks such as Tailwind CSS and Bootstrap, and naming conventions such as BEM.
- Familiarity with package managers such as npm and Yarn and build tools such as Gulp and Webpack.
- Ability to set up, run, and debug local development environments.
- Experience with asynchronous requests, partial page updates, and REST API integrations.
- Proficiency with command-line tools, SSH keys, FTP/SFTP, and Git-based workflows for staging and deployment.
- Understanding of cross-browser compatibility, technical SEO, and website requirements for search engine marketing (SEM).
- Commitment to writing clean, efficient, reusable, and maintainable code.
Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience with JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or jQuery.
- Familiarity with Node.js
- Basic image editing skills, including cropping, resizing, and minor adjustments, using Photoshop, GIMP, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience building and implementing WordPress blocks and patterns.
